Our First Family Vacation

We flew off to sunny California on Super Bowl Sunday. It wasn't all "sunny" to start with, we almost didn't get to go because Presley came down with a bad cold hours before we were to leave. We were able to get him some medicine at 4 AM and head to the airport on time.

Once we arrived the weather was so beautiful. Sunday we rested and settled in. We had a busy week ahead.

Monday we went to Disneyland. It was so magical. I loved seeing my kids face. Zoe surprised me with how brave she was on the rides. She went on the big kid rides and LOVED them. The kids got their face painted too. Steve and I went to the House of Blues in the evening for the Plain White T's concert. It was such a great concert and a really cool venue! (Steve got me a center stage seat too! It was so sweet of him!)

On Tuesday, we went to Disney California. It was amazing! I recommend it! The first ride we went on was a Grizzly Rapids. It was so much fun even though we got wet... especially Steve! He was saying how he wasn't too wet and a gieser hosed him. It was so funny!

On Wednesday we took a break from Disneyland and went to Seal Beach for the day. We started out having Fish Tacos, my favorite! After lunch the guys went golfing. We did some shopping and the kids got to play on a playground right on the beach. There were lots of ladybugs for the kids to explore. For dinner we headed over to Huntington Beach and ate dinner at Patti and Rich's house. It was great seeing family that we haven't seen in years.

On Thursday, we went back to Disneyland to try and hit more of the cool attractions. I really don't now how people see it all in one day. It was our third day and we still had so much to see and do. Zoe's overall favorite was the Thunder Mountain railroad (a very fast roller coaster). Presely liked the rides but he was two inches too short for the roller coasters. His favorite was the Pirates.

On Friday, Mom (Betsy) and I went to Downtown Disney to do a little shopping. Then we headed to Seal Beach for Kevin and Desire's Wedding. They got married facing the ocean on Seal Beach. Their reception was at Thai on Main (their friend's restaurant). It was very nice and the food was so yummy! I am very happy that my brother Kevin found the one!

On Saturday, Steve and I went to Hollywood and Venice Beach for the day. Much of the day was spent in traffic (this was the bummer part). We went to American Electric Tattoo and High Voltage Tattoo both from the show LA Ink. We even got to meet Dan Smith. (He was so cute!)

We drove up to Hollywood Blvd. to check out the "Stars" but we were quickly scared away by the scary people we encountered on the street. It was NOT what I was expecting. So we drove up to the Hollywood sign instead. We spent the rest of the afternoon in Venice Beach. It was a beautiful sunny day there were lots of people out enjoying the sun.
Our last evening in California was spent visiting with my mom's childhood friend Linda and her girls. We watched the Disney fireworks from our room. It was a great family vacation!

A special thank you to Grandma and Grandma! We had so much fun!
